On our travels, we saw how organic living can be a great way to promote sustainability in society as well as longevity in personal health. So, we wanted to be a part of it. By starting ROAR FOOD, we provide wholesome food that tastes great and makes you feel alive. We love being able to feed people nutritious treats and the overwhelmingly positive feedback serves as a strong incentive for us to do so.
Perhaps you would like to know a bit about our history. Brendan Jones is the founder of former organic restaurant ‘The Pizza Patch’ now Threeworlds Organic Cafe, located in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast. Brendan’s passion for organic plant based food has lead him to work to promote and provide this way of eating to the public since 2006.
‘I realized how many people are craving decent food made with nutrition in mind. The response people give us after eating ROAR FOOD is amazing, it’s a real joy being able to feed people’
Suki Kasinathan is a general plant lover. She has researched into plant genetics (Salt Tolerance PhD, U.C.L, London) and forest biodiversity (Coral Cay Conservation). She became interested in organics as a way to decrease the use of chemicals in agriculture and in our bodies.
‘It was like a brick hit me in the face’ says Suki ‘I have always cared about the environment and was working with The Wilderness Society when Brendan asked me if I wanted to start having more organic vegan meals. I had no idea that by changing the way I ate, I could change my impact on the planet. It was something I could do without waiting on the government to change. It’s about consumer choice and I just wanted to try my best’
Our interest in organic gardening grew when they saw how many people were so incredibly enthusiastic about growing. When volunteering on organic permaculture influenced farms we learnt how growing your own food is the most nutritious way to eat but also that even in an urban setting it is surprisingly easy to grow a substantial part of the food you eat all by yourself. With our Edible Garden concept we aim share our experiences and encourage a fresh approach to the food we eat.
ROAR FOOD has been set up with a vision to promote healthy eating both in meetings, events and by take-away. Our business is run using as many recyclable and ethically sourced products and buys local and Australian as possible.
As part of our commitments to sustainability, 5% of our annual profit is donated to charities that promote wilderness conservation. Australia offers an amazing and unique biodiversity. It is tragic that even with all the knowledge we have, Australia’s old growth forests are still being logged.
We are always looking at ways to make our business and our lives more sustainable. If you have any ideas, email us at roarfood@me.com. Thanks.
Organic Food: We think it is good for you as it encourages the use of less pesticides and fertilisers. Less pesticides in our body and our environment can’t be a bad thing for us and for the future. Over use of fertilisers can pollute rivers and effect the ecosystems within them. We believe it is better to avoid disrupting the balance of nature esp. when there is no real benefit from doing so.
